Who doesn’t admire a flying superhero? Aren’t we are all inspired by the flying abilities of our toon heroes? Don’t we all desire to fly like them? I’m inspired by Owlette in the PJ Masks and have wanted to fly like her.
My dreams came true! On an awesome Spring Sunday morning while returning from Chennai, suddenly I saw a board saying turn left for exciting adventure sports. I didn’t want to miss that opportunity. So, I requested my dad to take me there as it was about 50 kilometres away. I continued pleading my dad, and finally, he accepted.
The adventure sports centre was high up in the Yercaud Hills near Jolarpettai in Tamil Nadu. Almost an hour later we arrived at the location. The adventure sports centre offered many adventure sports, but the one that I blindly chose was Zipline. My dad made his regular safety checks by checking the place and infrastructure and then purchased the tickets. My excitement was high and the thought of flying was exciting.
As I climbed the stairs to reach the top of the platform from where I would be heading across the valley and reach the landing spot at the other end, I could almost hear my heartbeat loud. At the platform, the executive tied the ropes and hooks around me. He also mentioned all the do’s and don’t’s. I was hardly listening to him as I was looking forward to FLY!
Suddenly, the executive said, Dhamathi – “3, 2, 1 and you go”. And yes, I was flying. I stretched my hands and flapped it as the birds do with their wings. The cool mountain breeze was hitting on my face and as the speed picked up, I could hardly keep my eyes open. But I did not want to miss the sight of the valley and the surroundings. I kept my eyes open and continued to flap my hands like a wing.
All good things come to an end; they say. But this came quite fast. The executive at the other platform quickly pulled me up and looked into my eyes and said, “trust you enjoyed”. I was disappointed that it ended so fast. But I was glad that I got the opportunity to fly and I was happy that I chose the right adventure sport. We resumed our trip to Bangalore and I was in high spirits.
Friends, once the pandemic is over, I plan to go zip-line again. If you are eager to join me and fly like our superheroes, do let me know. I assure you plenty of excitement and fun.
