You are filled with negative emotions? Maybe you are upset, angry, frustrated, jealous, afraid, sad, or disappointed? Well, that’s when you got to be careful and vigilant! Cause Hawk Moth can sense your feelings from his home and with a command, “Nooro, dark wings rise” and send a miraculous butterfly that can go into an important object that belongs to you and akumatize you. Once your object gets the akuma, it immediately creates a link between Hawk Moth and you. Thereafter the area around your eyes darkens to a dark rust colour and Hawk Moth gives you a new name and could make you a supervillain identity. Scary, isn’t it?
Fortunately, for every villain, there are heroes and superheroes. In the TV series, “Miraculous Lady Bug” our heroes are teenagers – Marinette and Adrien who transform into superheroes with the help of two little creatures called “kwamis”. Ladybug aka Marinette’s kwami is Tikki and uses her earrings while Catnoir aka Adrien kwami’s is Plagg and uses his ring.
Hawk Moth can't directly read their minds either, however, he can see through their eyes and sense their feelings, allowing him to see and feel what they do. If he needs to, Hawk Moth can control their bodies for a brief amount of time to inflict pain on them until they agree to do as he commands. Hawk Moth can revoke the Akuma, removing the villain's powers. He also uses this as a threat against his victims to keep them on task.
The plot gets interesting because sometimes friends of heros are turned into villains by Hawk Moth. He akumatizes them when they have a negative feeling. Here is a brief list of people who have been akumatized and their powers.
Nino Lahiffe (a.k.a Bubbler) "The Bubbler"
Able to use his bubble wand to create impenetrable bubbles that he can use to trap people and make them float away. Wants to get rid of all adults and give Adrien the best birthday party ever.
Xavier Ramier (a.k.a Mr Pigeon) "Mr Pigeon"
Able to control and communicate with pigeons using his pigeon whistle. Wants to turn pigeons into the city's first-class citizens and get rid of all the park police.
Aurore Beauréal (a.k.a Stormy Weather) "Stormy Weather"
Can use her parasol to control the weather to generate strong winds, create ice, and shoot bolts of lightning. Wants to prove herself the rightful weather girl of Paris.
Alix Kubdel (a.k.a Timebreaker) "Timebreaker"
Can steal energy from any people she touches to gain the energy she needs to activate her ability to travel back in time. The people she steals energy from will freeze and slowly disappear. Wants to go back in time to restore a broken family heirloom.
Théo Barbot (a.k.a Copycat) "Copycat"
Has the exact appearance and abilities of Cat Noir. He can also imitate Cat Noir's voice and he possesses his own Staff. Wants to ruin Cat Noir's reputation and become Ladybug's boyfriend.
Jalil Kubdel (a.k.a Pharaoh) "The Pharaoh"
Uses the powers of various Egyptian gods. He switches between powers by transforming his mask. Wants to perform an ancient ritual to revive Queen Nefertiti.
Alya Césaire (a.k.a Lady Wifi) "Lady Wifi"
Utilizes her cellphone to shoot various icons that can pause people, project images, and lock things in place. She can also teleport through cellphones. She can't use her powers if there's no wifi signal. Wants to unmask Ladybug.
Nathaniel Kurtzberg (a.k.a Evillustrator) "The Evillustrator"
Anything he draws on his tablet with his stylus pen will materialize in the real world, and he can erase existing items by erasing images of them from his tablet. He needs light to draw, so in the darkness, he is unable to use his power. Wants to date Marinette and get revenge on Chloé for criticizing his drawings.
Roger Raincomprix (a.k.a Rogercop) "Rogercop"
Can shoot lasers that turn into handcuffs on a person's wrists, will make that person follow his orders against their will. He also has a flying police car. Wants to enforce all laws, no matter how small.
