Don't Just Fly - Soar!

--- My article was published in The Hindu In School publication on Aug 1, 2021 --

My favorite dialogue is, “Don’t just fly, Soar!” from the movie Dumbo.

In the movie Dumbo, an elephant, is bullied and humiliated because of its big ears and few failures. Later when the circus is bought over by a new owner, Dumbo is pressurized by the new owner to perform new acts else his mom would be euthanized. That’s when the caretaker’s kids speak to Dumbo and encourage it give its best. Together, they plan for the escape of Dumbo and its mom.

Their words, “don’t just fly, soar!” is clear magic. As per the plan after extensive practice, Dumbo is not only able to impress the audience with its flying abilities but also in one show fly out of the circus and meet its mom who is about to shipped away.

I just pray that we have a society full of parents, teachers and authorities who would love to see us soar!
