King Arthur and the sword

We all know chemical fertilizers and football where have developed in England. But how many of us knew that England had no king for years?

Well friends, today in our English reading class, we completed the story - King Arthur and the sword. It all started long ago in England when a noble king named Uther ruled the it. One fine day he had a baby boy; yet the king was not happy as his royal magician (Merlin) had told him that great danger was awaiting his family. Not soon after, the queen died from an illness and the king died in a battle. It was up to Merlin to save the king’s son as there were a lot of people fighting only for the throne.

During the same period, there lived a brave knight called Sir Ector. He had 2 sons - Kay and Arthur and Arthur wasn't Sir Ector's real son! Someone had given him Arthur and the good-hearted knight raised Arthur as his own. By the time Arthur was 16 - Kay was already a knight and Arthur just was over joyed to be a squire to his brother.

One afternoon at the town square. Everyone gathered around to see a huge gem-studded sword was stuck in a big rock. Which said, " Whoever pulls out the sword from the stone is the true king of England!" Merlin came towards the stone after watching what happened and announced. "Let us hold a tournament and one who pulls out the sword will be the next king in a month from now!"

On the next day, while travelling to the town square, they noticed few guards standing near the stone. Upon reaching the town square, Kay ran off to register his name and Ector was greeting his old friends. While Arthur happily sat in the tent polishing Kay's helmet.

… Part #2 – will continue after my next class.
