“Birds of the same feathers flock together,” told my father during one of our post-dinner discussions last week. He believed that friends mostly think and behave in the same manner. But I don’t agree, as I believe, friends should be like the rainbow sundae – different in colour, taste, and size – adding to the flavour of our life.
Thinking further, I decided to look at some of the BFFs and I found that:
Tom and Jerry, one of the best examples of friends, are two different animals. Though they oft keep fighting crazily and they are never separatable friends.
Mickey and Minnie, another example of good friends, are of different genders and they are always doing good together.
Tweety and Sylvester, food chain enemies by definition but we do realize that though Sylvester could have eaten Tweety, it doesn’t!
Timon and Pumbaa, ever talkative friends, are a good example of how two different friends can join together and motivate even the lion cub!
Lilo and Stitch, eccentric and naughty friends, establish how a true friendship between a human and an alien-like lab-made creature can challenge the will of the destroyers.
Pooh, Tiger, and Piglet, the emotional and philosophical friendship between a bear, a tiger and a pig, shows how one can rely on another at all times.
From the chipmunks, Alvin, as the mischievous troublemaker; Simon, as the intellectual; and Theodore, as the shy one; join forces and bring life to music and dance.
Garfield, Oldie, and Floyd, an odd friendship between a cat, dog and a rat, clearly shows how interesting life can be when odd people become friends.
Bugs, Daffy, and Pepe, an odd friendship between a bunny, a duck and a skunk (of all animals)
Rufus and Cupcake, aren’t they the best example of partners-in-crime, though they come from two different dog breeds?
Meera, Mikku, and Chikku a good example of how a human and two mongooses set out to unravel the mystery and finally find the
Catboy, Owlette, Gecko and PJ Robot, four different members (cat, owl, lizard and a robot) join together to fight crime in their area.
When my father reads this, I am not sure, whether he will agree with my reasoning. But I guess you will definitely accept that good friend need not be like-minded and they all can be different items in the masala that make Gobi Manchurian tasty!
