My Speech About Mental Health @ OISNGR

I am grateful to my SOCH teacher and my Public Speaking teacher for giving me this opportunity to speak about the most important thing for a human. Mental Health.

Here is my script of my speech about Mental Health @ OISNGR

"We are all grateful for our parents. Grateful for our teachers and principal who make us smile every day. Grateful for the clothes we wear. Grateful for a house to stay in and many more. But there are times things aren’t like that. For example, the Monday blues. It’s Monday Morning and you don’t feel like getting up after the long weekend. There are times that you are down. Let me recite a poem that could motivate you. But… before that My name is Dhamathi Suresh from grade 7B. And today I am here to speak about mental health for a few minutes.

Let’s get to the poem.

You're the author of your life

So if you feel you can't cope

Don't put a full stop on it

Battle through it and hope

You could just give up

But instead choose to fight

Battle in the darkness

Until you see light

Don't leave a short story

With words of your pain

But a story of strength

And the things you can gain

Just take the first step

Be strong in each hour

Carry on your story

And be proud of your power.

A wonderful piece authored by Ashley Pullan.

Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well. Mental health is not a sign of weakness, nor is it something to be ashamed of. Just as we all have physical health; we all have mental health.

The senior boys would have started making fun of you after a particular incident and stared talking behind your back. You might be facing trauma that your best friend isn’t here this year. You parents might not be apricating you’re a grade marks. There could be so many possibilities where you feel down.

What’s the best thing to do at that time? Yes, you could confide the secret with your best friend or with a trustworthy friend. But wouldn’t the best thing to do be approaching an expert? And that’s the reason we have a counselor at our school. Namita Ma’am. She is an expert at counselling. She has the ability to understand what is affecting you. She is trained and qualified to give you scientific advices. And anything you tell them will be kept confidential.

No need to worry! They won’t reveal this information to your friends or your class teacher or your parents. Well friends, I trust you all will be able to make the best use of this professional in our school who is well-qualified to help us overcome our bigger blues. Thank you and Have a nice day. "
