The Unsung/Unknow Heroes Of The Ramayana

Last week, I got the opportunity to attend another Isckon online class! I was so eager to meet Radhika Mathaji and Shubha Vilas Prabhuji as they have taught me many things about the Ramayana in the past 2 years. This time I got to know about the unsung/unknown heroes of the Ramayana. I got to know about 3 characters. Want to know more? Scroll down!

1)Shabari: Shabaras were devotees who live in the forest. The Shabaras felt that Shabari’s teachings were not good enough so they kicked her out of the group. So Shabari went for a walk in the forest when she reached Matanga Rishi’s Ashram. She joined Matanga Rishi and started following his lessons and teachings. Then Matanga had to leave the ashram and had to go to another. Mathanga Rishi told Shabari to stay and wait. One day lord Ram will come. He never said when. But after that day for 13 YEARS, Shabari daily went out to get fruits, she always took a bite to see if the fruit tastes good or bitter. She became a hero for one main reason. The reason is after Sita got kidnapped Ram never ate up till that day and she also was the one who showed Ram on the way to Panchavati.

2) Jatayu: When Jatayu was young, he tried to reach the sun not knowing that the closer he gets to the sun the more heat increases and could burn him. Jatayu’s brother luckily soared faster than him and covered him. Jatayu’s brother pushed him down with a great gust of wind a few seconds before being burnt by the sun. Then when Sita was being kidnapped, Sita told Jatayu don’t come here but Jatayu did so because he wanted to die like a hero just like his brother did.

3) Sage Agastya: Have you ever wondered where Ram got his bow and that never-ending quiver? Well, he got it from Sage Agastya. Sage Agastya is one of the first rishis. When Lord Ram reached Sage Agastya’s Ashram, he told about how Sita got kidnapped. Agastya knew that Ravana was a powerful villain so he gave Lord Ram a never ending quiver and a powerful bow.

I hope you all got some new info on the unknown heroes of the Ramayana. Please do remember these heroes for their sacrifice was the most important. If there is any other hero I could add, please do let me know about it in the COMMENTS SECTION BELOW!!!.
