A Forest Within Bengaluru?

Hey, how many of us know that there is a forest in Bangalore city? Well, friends, there is this one forest which I recently visited! It is called Turahalli forest. Recently, I visited the forest and here is a list of things I did, noticed and learned over the couple hours that I was there:

  • My dad’s friend, who accompanied us, told me that Turahalli forest is the only surviving forest within Bengaluru City.

  • There were no wild animals. We did see squirrels, cats, dogs, pigs, cows, buffaloes, etc.

  • However, we did see plenty of birds.

  • We also did rock climbing… it was risky as it was slippery (due to early morning dew)!

  • The majority of trees are eucalyptus. Yep, there was such a great smell.

  • There is a Tree Park on the other side of the forest.

  • There is a well laid out walking track and the early morning walk was just pleasant.

  • It has also been used as an illegal garbage dump, which has affected wildlife.

  • There is a hill-top open cabin for people to take rest, relax and enjoy the view of the city

Friends, if you have visited or planning to visit Turahalli forest, do let me know. I am eager to visit again.
