Friends, we all know that planets are in different sizes. Some planets are visible while others are are not. These planets have a specific path. Its fun to track the same using simple technology. We would need a smart phone, a good internet connection, be ready to be awake late night and/or early morning.
I use an app called Sky Map which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. After downloading one should rotate the phone up and down and forward and backward as to align the compass to with Earth's magnetic fields and directions. Then, one should face the West and rotate the phone such that the horizon line is visible at the top of the screen. Now use the screen to locate the moon and the planets. Then look into the sky to see the actual moon and the planets.
This year on April 14th I woke up at 4:30 am and made use of the app to watch the alignment of 3 planets - Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars in a almost straight line. With the same app daily I see the sky and track Venus on some days its close to the moon and on some days its far away. Please feel free to connect with me, if you would require any help regarding the same.
Happy Star Gazing!
Fun Fact: {An easy way of remembering the order of the names of the planets the nine planets is through the sentence - Mary Very Early Made Jelly Shake Up Nelly's Pillow - which stands for the order of the planets - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto :-) }
